Electric Apartment Fireplaces Keep
You Warm--and You Won't Get Burned
The nice thing about electric
fireplaces is that they have all the advantages of a traditional
fireplace without any of the risks.
It is hard to find
apartment fireplaces nowadays. Traditional wood burning fireplaces are
too much of a risk for landlords, due in part to insurance costs,
building codes, and the multiple story aspect of most new apartment
buildings. The nice thing about electric fireplaces is that they have
all the advantages of a traditional fireplace without any of the risks.
It is difficult for builders to install traditional fireplaces in most
apartment buildings. There are so many things to consider, the perfect
alignment of chimneys, and a way to keep flues coordinated so that if a
flue is closed on one floor all the floors below it don’t get filled
with smoke. Although fireplaces were once standard fixtures in
apartments they are quickly loosing popularity.
This has been a welcome change for landlords. There was a huge insurance
cost associated with wood burning fireplaces in each apartment.
Fireplaces also come with the additional cost of yearly inspections.
Another issues associated with wood burning fireplaces is the risk of
fire. One careless tenant could bring down the entire apartment complex.
When you consider all of these things you can see why a landlord would
not want a fireplace in every apartment.
An electric apartment fireplace is a great replacement for traditional
wood burning fireplaces. Electric fireplaces can simply be plugged in,
with no need to worry about flues or venting requirements. Another
benefit of electric fireplaces is that they are portable; you can easily
move it from room to room, or even to your next apartment. Electric
fireplaces give you the warmth and mood of a traditional wood burning
fireplace, without all of the problems associated with them.
